Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Danny here!

I wanted to share that the banners are going up steadily all over the city! Right now you can see a selection of the banners along Mt. Royal Avenue near MICA’s Campus, and also up Charles Street near Johns Hopkins Campus and Wyman Park Dell. Here are a few images of the banners on Charles street! Enjoy! Do you want to get an exclusive look at all the banners, enjoy some great food & drink, and bid on some amazing silent auction items? RSVP TODAY for our April 2nd Gala at the American Visionary Art Museum.

Hello all! Danny here. So last night we hung the first banner and had a little banner preview reception. Despite the weather and traffic, we managed to kick off The Urban Forest Project! Check out these photos by Zoe Draddy of the event!

Great Bands!

Band selection by Charlotte’s Bar in Federal Hill (owned by Biff Baker)

The Commission
They have been touted as one of the finest Blues bands in the Greater Philadelphia region. Carrying a resume that includes over a thousand performances alongside numerous opening slots for national acts such as Common, Bone Thugs n Harmony, and Reel Big Fish, The Commission has garnered a name for themselves for reinterpreting the classics. At the end of the day, The Commission brings the noise and the party ensues. Original members Scott Wham (Lead Guitar/Vocals), drummer Matt Hildenbrand (Drums/Vocals), and Brian Aglira (Keyboards/Vocals) are about to enter their tenth year performing together. The Tree Baltimore event will help usher in this milestone for The Commission.

The Brass Uncle Band
They are proof that original music in Baltimore is as vibrant and as innovative as ever. Lead man John Petr mixes roots rock, soul, and blues to define a style all his own. The Brass Uncle Band’s live performances have been likened to the high-octane heartbeat of legends such as George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Growing quickly on the Baltimore scene, great things are expected from The Brass Uncle Band, and those who experience their live shows have become instant fans.

DJ Scott Wham
Mixing up the sounds in between sets, Hopkins very own Scott Wham will be our continuous DJ.

A special thanks to:
– Johns Hopkins University for allowing us to use the beach
– Recreation and Parks for their endless time and efforts to make this a complete experience
– MICA and JHU students for their ideas and coordination
– Scott Wham for helping us out and bringing the bands to us
– Ripken Quick Ball for donating their time and product to help fundraise
