Through the use of a simple pictogram, our message is threefold: belief/believe, bee, and leaf. Whichever message is taken away from this simple graphic, the meaning will stay the same: conserve, respect and consider the future.

The idea of belief is the need for the Baltimore community to stand up for what we believe in: reduce crime, eliminate drugs and keep the city clean, safe and livable. Believe is already a motto used by Baltimore city. It is reinterpreted here in a new way, taking that statement out of the realm of white type on a black field, and giving it more of an environmental focus.

The message of a bee and a leaf symbolize key elements in nature that the world will lose if we don’t practice good conservation in our community. We have to believe that humanity will save natural elements like the bee and tree populations for future generations. Both are disappearing, with bees unexpectedly fleeing their hives and deforestation occurring at rapid rates. However, change is still possible. Believe in Baltimore. Conserve, respect, and consider the future.
