Like yin and yang, this tree relies on equal balance and harmony to demonstrate the link between marine life in the Chesapeake Bay and the need for trees in and around the Baltimore area. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the air, replacing it with fresh, oxygenated air. They also absorb and filter out pollutants from rainwater and runoff, keeping it out of our streams, rivers, and oceans, and maintaining a livable environment for all marine animals. Simply stated, healthy trees lead to healthier air and water, just as healthy water leads to healthier aquatic life.
