Baltimore community has a lot of excellent and talented computer scientists, mathematicians, physicists, chemists and medical doctors. They may not easily understand Visual language from artists and designers rather than their languages based on mathematics, chemistry and computer codes. To bring their interesting into the urban forest, I want to use their language to create a green tree. L-system is an algorithm (a set of rules and symbols) to be used to model the growth of tree in Computer Science and Mathematics. I believe that my banner will earn a great attention for non-art based and technical oriented people to let them know what is going on in Baltimore community. After they understand the urban forest project with their language, they would be intimated to interpret other visual languages under the urban forest project on the street. I create a virtual green tree with Processing, which is a programming language for artists and designers. I designed this tree that generates fractals and realistic modeling of a tree in reference to the L-system algorithm: Tree={“FF-[F+F+F]+[F-F-F]:90”, ”++:5”, ”?:5”}; and programmed by Jer Thorp.
